50th Anniversary 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock- Norton Deer

Each 2 gallon ovoid crock is hand thrown by our master potter John, the shape of this crock has beautiful detailing and is prized for it's antique charm.  We are so excited to offer this crock with our collectible 50 Year anniversary stamp and hand decorate the Norton Deer design on each piece.  This pattern was released by Rowe Pottery in the early 1980's and was inspired by one of the most highly sought after motifs in antique stoneware.  The Norton Family began producing stoneware in the late 1700's in Bennington VT, they originally crafted only utilitarian pieces with little to no decoration.  By the mid 19th century, their work evolved, stoneware was no logner purely functional, but a true art form.  The introduction of the cobalt blue designs emerged and the iconic deer motif marked this beautiful transition.

We are proud to honor this rich heritage by bringing back the timeless Norton Deer desigin, celebrating both tradition and artistry as we mark our 50th year.  

All Rowe Pottery is hand crafted in our Cambridge WI studios, these collectible pieces are a testament to our values and traditional methods, there will be slight variations in size and coloring, we celebrate these differences.
