Our 2010 Historical Wine Fountain is based on a piece used in the 1800’s. Small Fountains or coolers, essentially two or three gallon jugs with spigot holes and often heavy double loop handles were commonly used in taverns, particularly in New York State, as containers for and dispensers of wines and brandy. Minute incised cuts add detail to the leaves.
